Alley Location Secured

Yesterday we resolved a dilemma that was troubling us, the finding of an alley location that is very important to our story.  There are some great looking alleys downtown, but proximity to traffic and the public make them tough to use in our tale of a deserted city.

One of our actors, Antonio Lexerot, had previously scouted out an alley in the Avenues that was never used.  Well, we went there and it works great for our needs.  Not only does it look good and offer privacy, but has many vantage points for shots, due to a bridge spanning it.  Even better than that is the manager, who is letting us use the thing whenever we want.  A former actor himself, he actually shot a movie there 20 years ago!  All in all, a sweet location should serve us well.

A busy day today--first day of principal photography in less than three hours (not in the alley).

Guess What I've Been Doing All Day...

I know it's a very necessary part of the production process, but storyboarding is tedium at its greatest level.  Alfred Hitchcock has been quoted as saying that this was the most rewarding part of filmmaking, because the creativity was at its freshest, with shooting on the set just a formality.  Okay, I get it, but scribbling out bad doodles of what you want your shots to look like ain't all that fun.  Maybe if I had my own storyboard artist to make me look good, I might feel otherwise.  Right now it's just drudgery.  Necessary drudgery, but still drudgery.
